When I was in school I was thought of pseudo-random number generation. I never thought there was going to be an actual random number generator. Very interesting. And indeed is interesting to confirm once more that work in a given area can many times be focused towards different applications, from game machines to embedded security.

In addition to the challenge of verifying that the numbers being generated are random, how does the chip verify that the program that it is running is "authorized"? Whatever the authorized developer does to create a legitimate program could, in theory, be implemented by an inside rogue programmer. Finally, what is being done to ensure a secure audit trail? As a bare minimum, once trouble is identified, it is necessary to be able to retrace the tracks and determine the scope of the damage.
