Could Cloud Clog Connections?
The forecast for the rollout of cloud computing may have moved from partly to mostly cloudy in the wake of last month’s network failure at Amazon’s cloud-based Web services operation. The widespread outage knocked out sites like Reddit for hours and other consumer sites for several days. Eventually isolated to an Amazon data center in northern Virginia, the unscheduled downtime renewed the debate about whether cloud computing can deliver on guarantees of service.
