Handheld PSA Monitor: Low Cost, No Waiting

Samuel Sia of Columbia University and his research partners set out to build handheld lab-on-chip devices that would apply microfluidics technology to bring sophisticated medical testing at low cost to patients in developing countries. Their first prototype, tested in Africa, was used to collect and analyze blood samples to screen patients for infectious diseases.
