SiC Startup Anvil Hammers at Power Conversion Market

The University of Warwick has spun out a startup company, Anvil Semiconductors Ltd., to provide moreefficient power converters made using silicon carbide power transistors. Numerous companies already provide silicon carbide transistors, owing to the material’s general superiority to silicon. But problems remain in fabricating SiC MOSFETs because silicon carbide’s high concentration of charge traps at the SiCSiO2 interface reduces material mobility.
