Did Toshiba Promise to Build a Brazilian Fab?
When deciding on its digital television standard a few years ago, Brazil flirted with the U.S. ATSC and European DVB specs before selecting a modified version of Japan’s ISDBT. A good deal rode on the decision, since it was believed that much of Latin America would fall in line behind Brazil’s choice. So when Japan’s spec got the nod in 2006, many expected a quid pro quo for Brazil.
