AMCC Shows the Way for ARM Servers

With the demonstration of a working 64-bit ARM server processor, Applied Micro Circuits Corp. showed the shifting technical and market dynamics that will disrupt the multi-billion dollar server business over the next decade. The demo showed that a relatively small company with no previous server experience can challenge market leader Intel in one of its more complex and demanding markets. It also demonstrated aggressive silicon integration will become one of the leading areas of competitive difference in a sector once dominated by large, fast processors.
