Amazon Offers Rare Glimpse Inside Kindle Fire

A senior Kindle engineer provided a rare glimpse into Amazon.com's mobile device group, its new Silk browser, changes it made to Android for the Kindle Fire and its work on Web services in a talk at the Android Developer Conference. The Kindle software group is made up of large numbers of autonomous five- to six-person teams, each responsible for all aspects of some small piece of the overall product. "We feel that is [the] key to rapid innovation," Gigliotti stresses.
