I would have ethical concerns working in this area, although if the regulators were using hyperfast tools they might be able to spot the bad guys' activities in time. But I fear that the relevant government department is probably still using its trusty Win95 machines...

It is astonishing that this technology has such a large reported market size. Companies using the systems successfully must be located close to the stock exchanges to minimize transit times for the data reception and trade orders. My gut feel is the predictions are overblown, as soon as a competitor gets a better solution, this technology will be obsolete - and as a niche product it may not have much other application.
